Install SAR Portal as an App
You can install SAR Portal as an app on your computer, phone or tablet. It then opens from your desktop, taskbar, Start menu or home screen in its own window, without the browser’s tabs and address bar.
Installing changes nothing about how SAR Portal works or where your data is held. It is the same secure, online application at app.sarportal.com, just quicker to reach.
Who Can Use It
- Every user and every role (Admin, Case Manager, Reviewer, Read Only) can install it. Sign in first: the browser offers to install once you are signed in.
- Every plan, including the free trial. There is no extra cost and nothing to switch on in Settings.
- Supported browsers: Chrome and Edge on Windows, Mac and Linux; Chrome on Android; Safari on iPhone and iPad.
Install on a Computer (Chrome or Edge)
- Open app.sarportal.com in Chrome or Edge and sign in
- Look for the install option the browser shows:
- Chrome: the install icon at the right of the address bar, or the browser menu (⋮) and the option to install SAR Portal
- Edge: the app icon in the address bar, or the browser menu (…) > Apps > Install this site as an app
- Confirm with Install
SAR Portal opens in its own window. You can pin it to your taskbar or dock like any other app.
Install on Android (Chrome)
- Open app.sarportal.com in Chrome and sign in
- Tap the browser menu (⋮) and choose Install app (on some phones it reads Add to Home screen)
- Confirm, and SAR Portal appears on your home screen
Install on iPhone or iPad (Safari)
- Open app.sarportal.com in Safari and sign in
- Tap the Share button
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add
Open SAR Portal from the new home-screen icon; it opens full screen without Safari’s address bar.
What to Expect
Online Only, Nothing Stored on the Device
The installed app needs an internet connection, just like the website. It does not work offline, and it stores no case information or documents on your device. Your cases and documents stay where they always are, in SAR Portal's EU-hosted service.
- Same sign-in: you sign in with the same account. Signing out works the same way.
- Same features and limits: the app shows exactly what the website shows for your role and plan, with the same page allowance and case limits.
- Updates are automatic: there is nothing to update; the app always shows the current version of SAR Portal.
- Downloads: files you download (for example redacted documents or exports) are saved to your device’s normal download folder, as they are from the website. Treat them with the same care.
Uninstall the App
Uninstalling removes only the shortcut and window. It does not delete your account, cases or documents.
- Chrome or Edge on a computer: open SAR Portal from its window, open the menu at the top of the window (⋮ or …) and choose the option to uninstall SAR Portal. You can also remove it from your operating system’s list of installed apps.
- Android: press and hold the SAR Portal icon and choose Uninstall (or drag it to Uninstall).
- iPhone or iPad: press and hold the SAR Portal icon, choose Remove App, then Delete from Home Screen (or Remove Bookmark).
To delete your SAR Portal account itself, see Account Deletion.
